About Dr. Chaffee
Dr. Nancy Chaffee received her general dentistry training at the University of Iowa in 1985.
After practicing for three years as a general dentist, she returned to the University of Iowa and
received her prosthodontic specialty training and Master’s degree in 1990. In 1993, she was certified
by the American Board of Prosthodontics. She has held academic appointments at The Ohio State University,
the University of Nebraska, and the University of North Carolina. She most recently served as the Graduate
Prosthodontics Program director at UNC. In 2001, Dr. Chaffee left full-time academics for private practice
in Cary, NC. In 2006, she opened her own private prosthodontic practice in Cary. She has been an active
member of the American Dental Association, the American College of Prosthodontists, and the American
Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics. She has served on the American Dental Association’s National Board
Test Construction Committee which composed the examination taken by every licensed dentist in the United States.
She has also served as a Delegate and on numerous committees for the American College of Prosthodontists, the
Board of Directors of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics as well as Chair of the Prosthodontic Group
of the American and International Associations for Dental Research. She also serves as a reviewer for the
Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and the Journal of Prosthodontics, where she reviews manuscripts
outlining the latest in dental research focused on prosthodontics.
Dentistry and prosthodontics are highly complex and rapidly changing.
Dr. Chaffee is committed to continuing her education so she can provide the latest techniques in prosthodontics.
Dr. Chaffee participates in numerous continuing education courses to stay up-to-date on the latest
research in dentistry. In addition to taking courses, she also lectures nationally to provide continuing education
to others so that they may better care for their patients.
